County to approve $3 million bid to resurface Marion Oaks roads

Nearly 19 miles of roadways in Marion Oaks are slated for resurfacing, as Marion County is expected to approve an over $3 million bid that will revitalize the area.
On Tuesday, the County Commission will vote to approve a contract with Superior Asphalt Inc. to resurface a number of southwest Marion roads.
Work will be done on minor local road sections in Marion Oaks; including Unit 6, south of Marion Oaks Boulevard and west of 36th Avenue Road; and Unit 9, north and south of Marion Oaks Pass and east of Marion Oaks Manor.

“Resurfacing work is to include roadway preparation, crack sealing, leveling, shoulder removal, temporary striping, permanent thermoplastic striping, and stabilizing all areas disturbed during construction,” according to the county.
Out of the four bids received, Municipal Services Director Chad Wicker has recommended that the county award the contract to Superior Asphalt Inc. as they proposed the lowest cost, at $3,057,606.
The item is slated for approval on the consent agenda at Tuesday’s meeting.
