The city of Ocala’s Community Development Services department is offering free Estate Planning 101: Secure Your Legacy workshops.

Discussions will include property disposition, trusts, living wills, life insurance and more.

According to department literature, the sessions can help attendees know who inherits, when and how; help reduce legal fees and avoid unplanned tax liabilities; prevent disputes by setting clear expectations and legal documents; and build a plan that evolves with life changes.

The workshops will be led by Giovanna Benitez with UF/IFAS Extension and Natalia Cox, a city of Ocala grants specialist. They have invited Community Legal Services to share the legal aspects. Seating is limited, so reservations are encouraged.

One session already took place. These are the remaining sessions:

  • March 19, 5-6:30pm, Marion County Public Library Headquarters, 2720 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala
  • June 23, 9:30-11:30am, Marion Oaks Community Center, 294 Marion Oaks Lane, Ocala
  • Sept. 15, 5:30-7:30pm, Silver Springs Shores Community Center, 590 Silver Road, Ocala
