On Dec. 21, the Ocala City Council voted to approve a 130-unit apartment complex called “Crystal Park Apartments,” located on 13.1 acres on the west side of N.W. 27th Ave at the 1400 block.

This development plan covers a portion of undeveloped property across from Capris Furniture, which the applicant is also associated with and intends to assist employees by offering housing options.

“A fantastic project in an area of tremendous need,” said Fred Rogers, attorney for the developer, to the Council on Dec. 21, adding that the complex would help “provide workforce hiring in that area.”

According to traffic estimations offered by city staff, the development will generate less than 100 PM peak hour trips (82) and therefore not require a traffic study.
