The blustery weather on Saturday, Nov. 6, was perfect for the 40th annual Marion County Chili Cook-off.

As morning rains cleared, but sharp winds remained, hundreds of chili lovers converged on the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion to sample nearly 30 different recipes cooked up by locals.

A team of judges tasted 26 chilis as they narrowed down their choices, based on flavor, consistency and aftertaste. Guests at the event also voted on their favorites.

The annual event is a fundraiser for the Cornerstone School.
