Tree swallow
Fast and furious, it’s nearly impossible to get a good look at a tree swallow in flight. The males have a striking iridescent blue back. They’re seen in Marion County from September through May, spending summers breeding up north. This one was photographed chasing an insect above a pond at the World Equestrian Center.
