Red-tailed Hawk
One of our two main hawk species, the Red-tailed Hawk is a bit larger and typically flies higher than the Red-shouldered Hawk. Red-tails prefer to eat small rodents, which they first skin before eating whole. (Red-shouldered Hawks prefer snakes and lizards.) This pair was photographed at the Ocala Wetland Recharge Park.
