Baltimore oriole

These gorgeous blackbirds visit Marion County in the winter where they can be attracted to backyard feeders with ripe fruit or jelly. Adult males are deep orange and black and get their name from the colors of the coat-of-arms of the English Baltimore family, while the females and young males are more yellow. This one was photographed at the home of an Ocala resident who has spent 30 years creating a thriving backyard habitat for birds.
