Homicide, shooting death of 14-year-old in Marion Oaks

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in the investigation of the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy in Marion Oaks on Wednesday.

According to a statement released by MCSO Public Information Officer Lt. Paul Bloom, deputies responded to a shooting in the 15000 block of Southwest 48th Avenue around 6 p.m. Wednesday to find Marshaun Jones deceased from an “apparent gunshot wound.”

“Currently, major crimes detectives are continuing their investigation into what has been ruled a homicide and are asking anyone with information about the incident to please call Detective Jason Williams at 352- 369-6715 or to remain anonymous, please call CrimeStoppers of Marion County at 352-368-STOP (7867) and reference tip number 24-35 in your tip,” Bloom wrote.
