A 74- year-old Sebring man died Saturday morning after he walked into the path of a Kia Forte on U.S. Highway 441 in southeast Marion County, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

According to an FHP press release, the unidentified victim was struck as he walked west on the highway near the crest of a hill. The Kia was traveling south on the highway in the outside lane.

“The pedestrian continued into the southbound lanes and into the Kia’s direct travel path,” the release stated.

The crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. near Southeast 173rd Street. The driver of the Kia, a 44- year-old Ocala woman, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured, the release stated.
