Man, 82, dies after vehicle crash early Sunday

An 82-year-old Ocala man died Sunday morning when the pickup truck he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The FHP press release stated that the crash occurred around 10:20 a.m. as the man was traveling south on Northwest 80th Avenue in the vicinity of Northwest 100th Street. The pickup truck, which was pulling a utility trailer, “left the roadway to the left and collided with a tree on the east grass shoulder.”

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was not identified in the release.
