The Ocala Civic Theatre will continue its 40-year tradition of offering scholarships to performing arts majors in Marion County, OCT announced.

“Encouraging young talent to pursue their dreams in the performing arts is a part of the Theatre’s mission,” OCT said in a release.

OCT has awarded $163,550 in scholarships to Marion County students in the last three years.

Applicants must be high school seniors or full-time college students pursuing a major in theatre arts, music or dance.

The competitive process asks applicants to complete the application, write an essay, provide letters of recommendation, participate in an interview and shared their talent in a video or personal interview. While it varies each year, the minimum awarded amount per recipient is generally $500. Awarded scholarships will be paid directly to the winner’s college by or on June 30, 2021.

Application and instructions are available at ocalacivictheatre.com on the Education page.

The deadline for submitting the application and all supporting materials is April 16 by 5:30 p.m.

Selected finalists will be notified by April 28, 2021 and be invited for a personal interview and audition on May 15.
