The exhibit lets kids and their families discover the animals that call trees home and will be on display through Sept. 19. [Bruce Ackerman/Ocala Gazette] 2026
You never know what you might see by simply looking up, especially when standing beneath a single tree or, better yet, into an overhead canopy of branches.
Visitors to the city of Ocala’s Discovery Center, located in the heart of Tuscawilla Park, are invited to explore the new “Treehouses: Look Who’s Living in the Trees” exhibit and discover a whole new world.
In addition to learning about the animals that call trees home, guests can roam from tree to tree and explore habitats, cross a wobbly suspension bridge, climb through two large treehouses and search for signs left by raccoons, woodpeckers, bears and other species.
Interactive experiences allow guests to become animal trackers, come face to face with wildlife, move along the Forest Sound Dance Floor, build a treehouse, learn about sustainable logging and explore how trees are used in everyday life.
The exhibit was developed by the Environmental Exhibit Collaborative and funded by Jane’s Trust and the Institute of Museum and Library Services. It will be on display through Sept. 19
The Discovery Center is at 701 NE Sanchez Ave., Ocala. It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The center hosts three exhibits throughout the year. It also offers a collection of reptiles and amphibians along with hands-on science activities. For more information, call 352-401-3900 or visit mydiscoverycenter.org
