Crash in NE Marion County claims one life

A two-vehicle crash in northeast Marion County on April 10 claimed the life of a 21-year -old Fort McCoy man and injured two others, the Florida Highway Patrol has reported.

According to an FHP press release, the crash occurred around 11:25 a.m. on County Road 315 north of State Road 40. A sedan driven by a 24-year-old Lake Mary man, who wore a seat belt, was traveling southwest on CR 315 as a pickup truck driven by a 62-year-old Fort McCoy man, who was not wearing a seat belt, was headed northeast on the roadway.  The sedan crossed the center line and entered the northbound lane. The front of the sedan collided with the front of the pickup truck. 

A passenger in the pickup truck, a 21-year-old Fort McCoy man, was pronounced deceased at the scene by members of Marion County Fire Rescue, according to the press release.

The pickup driver was critically injured and the sedan driver suffered serious injuries. Both drivers were transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, the press release stated.
