Seventh annual McKenzie’s Moment Celebrity Golf Invitational
The Gray family recently donated more than $437K to charities.
The seventh annual McKenzie’s Moment Celebrity Golf Invitational was held May 4 and 5 at the Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club. It drew a number of high-profile players who hit the links for a good cause.
“We donated over $437,000 back into Ocala,” said Kait Gray in a text message on May 6. “Three-hundred people attended the pairings party on Sunday evening, when we gave away the checks.”
Gray said a donation of $175,000 went to the Public Education Foundation of Marion County and $250,000 went to the AdventHealth Ocala Foundation. Gifts of $6,000 each were given to the Never Say Never Foundation and the Jim Horne Golf Foundation.
McKenzie’s Moment is a nonprofit created to honor McKenzie Ryan Kearney “Kenny” Gray, who was born May 22, 2018, at 28 weeks due to a placenta abruption.
“Despite around-the-clock, world-class care, Kenny peacefully passed away just three short days later,” the website states. “After Kenny’s passing, Kait, Ryan and Palmer Gray quickly sprung into action to commemorate their daughter and sister by creating a nonprofit organization. During the first four years of McKenzie’s Moment, the Grays raised over $2,535,000 for nonprofits that focus on the health and well-being and safety of women and children in North Central Florida.”
In 2022, AdventHealth Ocala announced the introduction of the McKenzie Kearney Gray Maternal Fetal Medicine program to elevate the pre- and post-natal care of high-risk pregnancy patients close to home.
