25 positive tests in schools last week, 231 quarantined

There were 25 positive COVID-19 tests among students and employees in the Marion County Public Schools for the week of Nov. 6-12, with 231 people quarantined for having direct contact with someone who tested positive in the schools.

Those who tested positive for COVID-19 included 16 students and nine employees at 13 schools, said Kevin Christian, school district spokesman. That resulted in 207 students and 24 employees being quarantined by the Florida Department of Health.

The schools impacted by positive COVID-19 cases were Belleview High, College Park Elementary, Eighth Street Elementary, Hammett Bowen Jr. Elementary, Horizon Academy at Marion Oaks, Liberty Middle, Maplewood Elementary, Marion Oaks Elementary, North Marion High, Osceola Middle, Shady Hill Elementary, Sparr Elementary and West Port High.
