16 positive tests in schools last week, 109 quarantined

There were 16 positive COVID-19 tests among students and employees in the Marion County Public Schools for the week of Oct. 30-Nov. 5, with 109 people quarantined for having direct contact with someone who tested positive in the schools.

Those who tested positive for COVID-19 included 11 students and five employees at 10 schools and two administration offices, said Kevin Christian, school district spokesman. That resulted in 83 students and 26 employees being quarantined by the Florida Department of Health.

The schools impacted by positive COVID-19 cases were Belleview High, Dr. N.H. Jones Elementary, Dunnellon High, Forest High, Fort McCoy School, Greenway Elementary, Harbour View Elementary, Liberty Middle, Marion Oaks Elementary and West Port High.

The Curriculum and Instruction and the Elementary Education departments were also impacted by COVID-19.
