Two dead in Highway 441 crash

A two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 441 in southeast Marion County on Thursday afternoon claimed the lives of two Ocala residents, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.
The victims, identified by the FHP as a 72-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman, were traveling north on U.S.Highway 441 in a sedan and attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Southeast 95th Street when
the sedan they rode in collided with a pickup truck driven by a 20- 20-year-old Fort Mc Coy man traveling south on U.S. Highway 441, according to an FHP press release.
The victims, who were not identified by name by the FHP, were transported to HCA Florida Hospital where they were pronounced deceased, the press release stated.
The driver of the pickup truck was transported to the same hospital and was in stable condition, according to the police press release.
The victims were not wearing seat belts and the pickup truck driver was wearing a seat belt, the press release stated.
