Local handler and Skye terrier win breed class at Westminster

Marcelo Veras and Cragsmoor Skye Boy Is That Good, a Skye Terrier he raised and shows, won the Skye Terrier breed class at the 2024 Westminster Dog Show. Materials on the Westminster site state that the canine is owned by Dina Planche and Cragsmoor Kennel and is 4 years old.

The show took place May 11-14 in New York City. A miniature poodle named CH Surrey Sage won Best in Show honors.

Veras has been participating in the annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show since 1996.

He has a farm in Morriston, west of Ocala, where his MVS Sport provides canine and equine concierge services, including professional presentation of quality show dogs, grooming, boarding, transport, sales, training, pet sitting and rehabilitation.

Among the other canine champions shown by Veras are Dobermans, Cavalier King Charles spaniels, a soft-coated Wheaton terrier, an American Eskimo dog, a Cirneco dell’Etna and a French bulldog.
