FHP: Crash may have involved medical episode

An 82-year-old Ocala man who may have suffered a medical episode died early Friday (Nov. 22) after the sedan he was driving left the roadway and crashed in southwest Ocala, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.
According to an FHP press release, the crash occurred around 5:41 a.m. on Southwest 87th Avenue in the vicinity of Southwest 90th Place.
“It is believed that the driver suffered a medical event and was unable to maintain control of (the vehicle). (The vehicle) traveled off the roadway and the front of (the vehicle) collided with a boulder,” the press release stated.
The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced deceased at a hospital, according to the press release.
